EDGE projects, in collaboration with TAG Fine Arts, is proud to present Chris Mitton’s solo show, Breaking Boundaries at EDGE Project Space, 13 Herald Street, London, a gallery space which focuses on facilitating cultural exchange through contemporary art.
Curator:  Hobby Limon

Breaking Boundaries is a collection of new works focused on Mitton’s alternative views of fine art, popular culture and the divisions within today’s society. As former Prime Minister David Cameron commented in his Hug a Hoodie speech;

Adult society’s response to the hoodie shows how far we are from finding the long-term answers to put things right.’

The aesthetic and provenance of Carrara marble, the classic sculptural medium that Mitton chooses to use, along with the time and skill it demands of the artist, creates a juxtaposition to the subject matter – the expendable hoodie. His sculptures challenge the values and respect placed on the often overlooked products at the core of the same society.

Chris Mitton’s iconic Hoodie sculpture has inspired a collection of jewellery designed by Johnny Rocket and accessories designed by Elensa to accompany the recent film BrOTHERHOOD, directed by Noel Clarke. A selection of these will be available at the exhibition.
