SEEING RED... 2013

The title, Seeing red ... , refers to the way the same object, image or situation can be read differently. The title is the metaphor for this: Australians see red as a symbol of anger or danger; Chinese see red as being lucky and happy.

We (as groups and as individuals) look at the art works in this exhibition and interpret meanings from multiple perspectives based on our life experiences – a ‘cultural’ basis is one – others may be our social and personal experiences, and our knowledge of ‘reading’ artworks ...

The works demonstrate a range of media and forms of dialogue – 2D, 3D and moving image; object, installation; ephemeral, permanent; social narrative, illusionary - allowing a variety of access points for viewers to engage with each work as well as with interactions between works.
